It’s the new normal to talk about ‘crazy times’.
There’s even Fleetwood frikkin’ Mac, for one night only. But we’ve also tried to cover more minor artists such as MyKey, Phox and Castlebeat. We’ve got established artists such as Modest Mouse, The Fall, Tame Impala, Sufjan Stevens, The Microphones and Bon Iver. It is the middle episode of a three-part series, especially relevant to the era of spending rather more time domestically than is ideal. This topic here is, once again, songs recorded at home. It does my desiccated, cynical heart the world of good to know we’re being shared round the world. Stats aren’t terribly important, and yet in another way, they are. We’ve had our first thousand listenership episode, with Songs Recorded At Home, Part One. Since our Guardian nomination (see Episode 39 blog), listenership has multiplied many times over. No-one wants to feel they’re shouting down a well and nobody’s listening, whatever they may pretend.
After a long break in the middle and, prompted by a couple of passing comments, we decided to start again. At Sombrero Fallout we’ve been working away diligently for 39 episodes since 2017.
